Malaysia Events 2013
In the effort to enhance the tourism industry in Malaysia, the Tourism Ministry has planned many events that will be carried out for visitors like you to choose and participate in. Join and attend some of the events if you are in the vicinity to make your visit to Malaysia a memorable one.
Some of the highlights of the big events that you can consider joining are listed below.
JANUARY4 January 2013 to 6 Jan 2013 : International Surfing Competition
This is the time of the year when the sea is rough and fishermen are not able to go to the sea. This is a good time for surfers to show their skills. This event is organized by Pahang State Tourism and the Ministry of Tourism.

7-12 January 2013 : Royal Langkawi International Regatta
See the famous yachtsmen from various countries competing in Langkawi Island. Dates will be confirmed later.

27 January 2013 : Thaipusam
This is a religious festival for the Hindus which draw visitors and foreigners. The main celebration is held in Batu Caves, Selangor.

16 Feb 2013 : Chinese New Year Open House Celebration
This Malaysia Events 2013 auspicious occasion is celebrated for 15 days by the Chinese of Malaysia. Other races join in the celebration by attending open houses throughout the country. Large scale open houses are organised with plenty of food for everyone to enjoy. Lion dance and angpows are given out during this time. This year's open house will be held in Penang.

20 Feb 2013 - 4 Mar 2013: National Craft Day 2013
See the arts and crafts at Kuala Lumpur Craft Complex. You may be able to find some souvenir here. Fashion shows and cooking demo will be held here as well.

4-19 Feb 2013: Pasir Gudang International Kites Festival 2013
Enjoy the Malaysia Events 2013 kite flying competition and shows from over 25 participating countries during the monsoon season. Venue is at Pasir Gudang, Johor.

21 Feb - 2 March 2013: Le Tour De Langkawi 2013
This bi-annual event will be held from 21 Feb to 2 March. The race will pass through 7 states and 2 Federal Territories.
8 Mar 2013 - 10 Mar 2013: Negeri Sembilan Adat Perpatih Festival
This Malaysia Events 2013 state wide festival is a good time for visitors to know more about this unique culture of Negeri Sembilan.

9-10 March 2013: Raptor Watch 2013
Organized by Malaysia Nature Society, this annual event at Tanjung Tuan, Port Dickson in Negeri Sembilan is a good time for family outing.

16 Mar to 7 April 2013: 1Malaysia GP Sale 2013
This Malaysia Events 2013 nationwide carnival sale throughout the nation is held in conjunction with the Petronas Malaysian F1 GP 2013.

22-24 Mar 2013 : FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP "Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix" 2013
This year's Formula One is held in Sepang during the tropical heat of the day. Come and see the excitement and roaring sound of the world class cars from Ferari, BMW, Mercedes, etc.
Many entertaining and exciting exhibitions will be held in the city of Kuala Lumpur. Many shopping discounts will also be offered in various shopping complexes especially in Bukit Bintang area.

12-14 April 2013 : Langkawi Water Festival - Malaysia Water Festival (Fishing Carnival)
Held in Pantai Cenang, Langkawi Island, some of the water-based activities that you will witness here include kayaking, para sailing, jet ski, yachting and fishing.

26-28 April 2013 : 20th Regatta Lepa Semporna – Water Festival
Held in Semporna in the state of Sabah, this Malaysia Events 2013 water festival will include a competition of the most beautiful traditional sailboats. Tug of war, kayak race and boat racing will also be held as part of the festival during this 2 days of fun and excitement. Semporna is the gateway to the world's best dive sites which include the world renowned Sipadan.

Apr 26 - Apr 28, 2013 Labuan International Sea Challenge (Malaysia Water Festival 2013)

18 May 2013 : Colours of 1Malaysia 2013
Colours of Malaysia Festival will give you an opportunity to learn about the Malaysian people and the diverse cultures. This annual event brings all the heritage and culture of Malaysians from all states. Various delicacies of the different ethnic groups of Malaysia will be featured here as well. Tentatively, the event may be held in Dataran Merdeka, pending confirmation from the organiser.

This harvest festival is celebrated by the Ibans and Bidayuh in Sarawak. This annual fesival will showcase the traditional costumes and ceremonial offerings.

15 June - 16 June 2013 : 27th Sabah Dragon Boat Race 2013
This annual event has attracted many international participants from Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, China and Brunei. This event will be held in Kota Kinabalu. While here, remember to visit Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park and Kinabalu National Park.

28 June - 30 June 2013: Rainforest World Music Festival 2013
Visit Sarawak on the island of Borneo go to see the living museum known as Sarawak Cultural Village. Musicians from around the world will gather here to celebrate a fusion of nature, culture and ethnic music. If you have the time, head for Bako National Park near Kuching and you will not regret it.

29 June - 30 June 2013: Fraser's Hill International Bird Race 2013
This annual event held at Frasers Hill attracts bird watchers from around the globe. Teams are divided into groups to identify the birds here, many of them migratory birds from Siberia and Japan.
