If you are on your way to Cameron Highlands using Tapah way or Simpang Pulai way, you will definitely encounter at least one Bharat Tea Plantations before you reach your destinations. The obvious reason is that they are located by the main road and there are huge signage welcoming you to take a break from your journey.
The brand of the tea marketed by the company is called Cameron Valley Tea. Take a cup of tea, some scones and other snacks while enjoying the fantastic view of the tea plantations.
There are three tea houses that you can visit, Tea House 1 and Tea House 2 are adjacent to each other and are located at Tanah Rata. The other one is located at Kuala Terla. All of them are located by the main road and are easily accessible with your car.
The first Cameron Valley Tea House that you will encounter if you are coming from Tapah is 5 km before Tanah Rata. You will pass by Lata Iskandar waterfalls, followed by Ringlet, The Lakehouse Hotel, Habu before reaching this plantation cum Tea House 1 to your left. Tea House 2 is adjacent and is further up the road. There are parking bays available if you are driving.
Take a walk to the tea plantation and take in the beautiful scenery. A good place to take some photographs with the mountains and tea trees as the background.
Most of the tea trees are harvested every 15 days or so using special machines. You will need to buy an entrance ticket to go into the plantation. Ticket price is RM4/adult and free for children below 13 years old.
In the past, the plucking of the teas were labour intensive and slow but with the advancement of modern technology, these machines are now able to harvest 10 times more compared to manual plucking.

View of the plantation from Tea House Cafeteria 2The cafeteria is open daily for you to take a freshly brewed cup of tea. Pick your choice of scones, sandwiches, cakes or other snacks. There are many types of tea that you can try. The popular one is the Cardamom Tea. Others flavoured tea include Earl Grey Tea, Lemon Tea, Strawberry Tea and Mint Tea.
There is also a shop where you can purchase tea-related products and other souvenirs. Talk to the sales person and learn more about the various type of tea that you can purchase. You can even sample some of them. Try the premium type as you may not be able to get them after you leave the highlands.

You can sample and buy some tea products here.One of the new activities you can do here is taking the buggy ride to explore the waterfalls and tea plantations. The price to use the buggy is RM20/adult, RM13 for children from 4-12 years old. It is free for children 3 years old and below.

Routes of the buggy rideEven if you miss the tea house near Tanah Rata, it is alright because there is another one further up the highlands. After Tanah Rata, you will pass by Brinchang, Kea Farm Tringkap and Kuala Terla. You will see the tea house to your left after at Kuala Terla after Tringkap.
If you are coming from Simpang Pulai way, you will pass by Blue Valley, Kampung Raja and Kampung Terla before reaching this tea house to your right.
This tea house is located on higher ground compared to the road.

Cafeteria overlooking the plantationThe setup is similar to the one at Tanah Rata. You can go to the tea farm, enjoy your snacks and tea at the cafeteria. There is also a souvenir shop just beside the cafeteria. This place is also open daily from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm (Mon-Thurs) and 8:00 am to 6:00 pm (Fri, Sat, Sun and public holidays)

The other tea plantations with almost similar setup that you can go is to Boh Tea Factory and Tea Shop, a few km away from Tanah Rata. Another one is the Sungai Palas Boh Tea Estate which is located after Kea Farm.
Both of these tea plantations are located further away from the main road but are nevertheless worth going. Besides tea plantations, shops and cafeteria, you will also be able to visit the factory that processes tea leaves. More information about BOH Tea Plantations here.
