Following the success of Visit Malaysia Year 2007-2008, the Tourism Ministry has planned many Malaysia events 2009 that will be carried out for visitors like you to choose and participate in. Join and attend some of the events if you are in the vicinity to make your visit to Malaysia a memorable one.

29 Nov 2008 - 4 Jan 2009 : Malaysia Savings Sale
The Malaysia Year End Sale known as Malaysia Savings Sale is back with great discounts and bargains on a wide variety of merchandise. Wait no longer, this is the time for the ultimate shopping indulgence. Head for the many shopping complexes in the city and you will not regret it.

1 January 2009 : New Year's Day Celebration
Celebrate the dawn of the New Year at the main cities throughout Malaysia. If you are in Kuala Lumpur, head for Dataran Merdeka or KLCC Park. In Petaling Jaya, head for 1 Utama Shopping Centre from 6:30pm 31st Dec 2008 onwards for the countdown. Musical Fireworks and perfomances by artistes from Malaysia and Hong Kong will be featured here.

26-27 Jan 2009 : Chinese New Year
This auspicious occasion is celebrated for 15 days by the Chinese of Malaysia. Other races join in the celebration by
attending open houses throughout the country. Large scale open houses are organised with plenty of food for everyone to
enjoy. This is one of the major Malaysia events that you should join.

27 Jan 2009 - 2 Feb 2009 : Happy Shaolin Legend
Happy Shaolin Legend is another event to be held in Genting Highlands Arena of Stars, Genting Highlands in conjunction with the Chinese New Year. The show is a professionally choreographed theatrical performance which will be appreciated by all.

FEBRUARY MALAYSIA EVENTS
8 Feb 2009 : Thaipusam
This is a religious festival for the Hindus which draw visitors and foreigners. The main celebration is held in Batu Caves, Selayang in the state of Selangor.
9-15 Feb 2009 : Le Tour de Langkawi
This year's Le Tour de Langkawi will have 20 teams participating. It will start in Putrajaya, the federal administrative centre of Malaysian government, and finishing in Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur.
1-17 Feb 2009 : Paintball Challenge Labuan Open 2009
This event in Labuan, Sabah attracts amateur and professional participants. Students, Youth, Government and Corporate categories are also available.
MARCH MALAYSIA EVENTS
13-15 March 2009 : MATTA FAIR 2009
Plan to go for MATTA FAIR 2009 and you will most probably be able to find value for money packages for your traveling needs. It will be held in PWTC, just directly opposite The Mall shopping centre.

3-5 April 2009 : Petronas Malaysian F1 Grand Prix 2009
This premier season opener Formula One is held annually in Sepang during the tropical heat of the day. Come and see the
excitement and roaring sound of the world class cars from Ferari, BMW, Toyota, etc. This is one of the major Malaysia events that you should join if you are into car racing.

MAY MALAYSIA EVENTS
9 May 2009 : Wesak
Celebrated by the Buddhist, it is considered the holiest day in the Buddhist Calendar. It marks the birth, enlightenment
and final passing away of the Buddha.

30-31 May 2009 : Tadau Keamatan
The Tadau Kaamatan or Harvest Festival is held in Sabah and Labuan. It is an event to give thanks in celebration for the bountiful harvest.

1-2 June 2009: Gawai Dayak Festival
This harvest festival is celebrated by the Ibans and Bidayuh in Sarawak. This annual fesival will showcase the traditional

JULY
10-12 July 2009 : Rainforest World Music Festival, Sarawak Cultural Village
Visit Sarawak on the island of Borneo go to see the living museum known as Sarawak Cultural Village. Musicians from around
the world will gather here to celebrate a fusion of nature, culture and ethnic music. If you have the time, head for
Bako National Park near Kuching and you

AUGUST
31 August 2009 : Merdeka Month Celebration
This day commemorates Malaysia's 51st year of independance or 'Merdeka' in Malay Language. See the open air concert on the
eve of Merdeka day on 30 August. The colourful parade will be held on the morning of the Merdeka Day. The Merdeka day
celebration is held in every major city in Malaysia.

SEPTEMBER
20-21 Sept 2009 : Hari Raya Aidilfitri Celebration
Join the celebration as Malaysian muslim end their fasting month. Relatives and friends are invited to many open houses
