If you are visiting Kuala Selangor Fireflies or Kuala Selangor Nature Park on your own and was wondering where to haveyour meals, try the many sea food restaurants in Pasir Penambang. Pasir Penambang is a small fishing village which is located just after the more popular town of Kuala Selangor. If you are coming from Sungai Buluh, go towards the direction of Kuala Selangor. Go further towards Bukit Melawati and turn right at the traffic light. After crossing the bridge over SungaiSelangor, turn left at the first traffic light. Go towards the direction of the shops by turning left after the junction.

The population of this town is mostly Chinese. Most of the restaurants here serve halal food, hence you will see Malaysiansof all races come here for their meals. They are opened throughout the day. Some of the tasty food that you can order here include the crabs. Different style of cooking are served by different restaurants. The popular ones are sweet and sour crab,butter crab, "Kam Heong" crab, Marmite crab, salted egg yolk crab and spicy crab with curry leaves.

Other dishes you can order include:

  • Fish Teo Chew steamed fish is suitable for those who prefer non-spicy cooking. Fried fish with sauce is another common Chinese dish. For those who are into spicy stuff, try the assam fish.
  • Chicken Chicken dishes include marmite chicken, ginger chicken cooked with black sauce or steamed chicken.
  • Yam Basket is another popular dish where yam is being fried until it become crispy after which it is served together with chicken, vegetables and cashew nuts.
  • Vegetables include spinach, kai lan, cabbage and others that you can fried with sambal or garlic.
  • Bean curd or Tofu is another Chinese dish that you should try. It is made from soya bean.
  • Calamari style of cooking is usually deep fried.

Almost all the sea food restaurants are open air concept to take advantage of the breeze that blows from the river. When choosing a table to dine, remember to choose one which is nearer to the river. You will be able to see a light house whichis located at Bukit Melawati in Kuala Selangor.
