Melaka Sentral

Melaka Sentral Transportation Hub

Located at Peringgit, Off Jalan Tun Razak, Melaka Sentral was established in 2004 and represents a transformation of the transportation system in Melaka. Ironically, this central terminal reflects a sense of contemporary through its huge sign board and modern architecture in the city that is famous for her museums and ruins. No matter on how it looks, you will definitely be impressed by this convenient and organized transportation hub.

This central terminal plays its important role as the major transportation hub in Melaka. It is where you can get intercity express bus, domestic bus and taxi in one place. Intercity express bus from places like Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Penang, Terengganu, Kelantan or even Singapore will stop and depart from here. Furthermore, once you reach there, you can just hop on the domestic bus or taxi which will bring you to the town.

Unlike bus terminals in Kuala Lumpur, this hub is much more organized. Fully air-conditioned, the terminal is huge, clean and centralized. You do not have to worry about getting lost and wandering around to look for the bus platform as everything is organized according to 4 sections and clear signages will lead you to where you are heading.

Zoning System

Overall, the terminal is divided into 4 main zones. Zone A consists of some shops and free spaces to organize cultural activities occasionally. Zone B is where 26 counters that sell intercity express bus tickets and 9 counters that sell domestic bus tickets are located. 2 mini playgrounds near to the comfortable and spacious waiting area are also located in this zone. Zone C is a food court where you can find food ranging from local delicacies to fast food like McDonald. Finally, Zone D is the pick-up and drop-off area and you can also get taxi and car rental services from specific counters.

This terminal is undeniably a convenient place for people who have just arrived to Melaka or who are about to leave. There are plenty of shops selling goods such as clothes, shoes, jewel, accessories, mobile phone and phone cards. ATM and money changer are also available. Thus, you don’t have to worry when you realize that you have missed anything out because most of the necessities can be found in here. It is also a good place to get some “last-minute” souvenirs!

Apart from being clean and organized inside the terminal itself, the outdoor parking space will leave a good impression for you as well. Even though buses, taxis and cars are basically sharing the same open-space parking lot, you will never see a sense of confusion and messiness. Buses are parking on the specific lane according to specific platform with taxis lining up at the other side. Private cars are given a much spacious parking space further down.

Shopping Complex Within The Vicinity

Can’t wait to go shopping once stepped you into Melaka? No worries. Major hypermarket - Tesco is just minutes away from Melaka Sentral. You can go there and get some necessities before hopping to the town for sight-seeing. Besides, there is also a 24-hour bazaar opposite to the terminal which you can see once you come out from the terminal. The huge bazaar sells things like clothes and textile. It is also the first place with the concept of 24 hours operation in Melaka!

If you are visiting Melaka for the first time by taking public transport like intercity express bus to reach there, Melaka Sentral will be the first place that impresses you before all the museums and ruins in town. By looking at the organized central terminal, you will think that histories have taught Melaka to be a nice city!
