Firefly Airline

The success of AirAsia no frills concept has created competition in Malaysia air travel industry where consumers now have the liberty to choose airlines that suit their budget and requirements. The latest budget no frills airline that has been added in Malaysia is the Firefly Airline which was established in April 2007. This airline is a wholly owned subsidiary of Malaysia Airline System Berhad.

Currently the airline has two Fokker 50 aeroplanes that can seat up to 50 passengers. With the hub in Penang, this airline is currently flying to a few destinations within Malaysia and Thailand. If you are planning to go for vacation or business to any of the locations listed below, you now have another choice of budget airline to choose from.

The listed price ranges from RM0.99 to RM39.99 excluding taxes and surcharge.


Domestic Routes

Penang to/fro Langkawi
Penang to/fro Kuantan
Penang to/fro Kota Bahru
Penang to/fro Kuala Terengganu
Kuantan to/fro Kuala Terengganu


International Routes

Travellers who are used to the popular beaches in Phuket and Koh Samui in Thailand will now be able to enjoy lower fares in going to these two tourist spots in Thailand.

By year 2008, 10 new aeroplanes with seating capacity of 72 will be added to the fleet. More routes both domestic and international are also expected to be added by then.



Promotion

In conjunction with the 50th Merdeka celebrations of Malaysia this year, the airline is offering RM0.50 to fly from Penang to Langkawi, Kuantan, Terengganu, Kota Bahru, Phuket and Koh Samui. Take note that the pricing does not include taxes and surcharges. However, the final price will still be cheaper than the conventional airlines.

This promotion is only valid for travel period from 2 Aug 2007 - 27 March 2008.

Booking period is from Aug 1 to Aug 31, 2007.
