Putra World Trade Centre EventsPutra World Trade Centre Putra World Trade Centre is the main convention and exhibition centre in Kuala Lumpur. It was officially opened in 1985 and since then has been the main venue of major convention and exhibition centre for big events such as furniture fair and MATTA fair. The other more recent convention centre is Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre which is located in Suria KLCC, where Petronas Twin Towers is. Also known as PWTC, this building is located just opposite The Mall Shopping Centre. For accommodation, The Legend and Seri Pacific hotels are the two main hotels within walking distance. Other budget hotels are located within the vicinity as well. For parking, there is a big parking bay at Hentian Putra, where you can take the buses to east coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The Komuter train and the Ampang Line LRT stations are located here as well.
One of the popular events held here twice yearly is MATTA Fair, a travel fair with great discounts. It is usually held in March and August. During this time, most of the parking bays are taken up due to the huge crowd that come here. An entrance fee of RM3 is charged per person. It is better to use the LRT and Komuter train if you are coming here to avoid the traffic congestion. While you are here, remember to drop by Malaysia Tourism Office at the Ground Floor of Putra World Trade Centre and get some brochures and advice on your travel in Malaysia.
