Chinese Calendar 2008

This page is a continuation from previous Chinese Calendar 2008 for the months of July to December 2008. Unlike the Gregorian Calendar, this calendar does not count years in an infinite sequence but have names that are re-used every 60 years. Each year is assigned a name that consists of two components namely "Celestial Stemm" and "Terrestrial Branch". The first component is:

  • jia
  • yi
  • bing
  • ding
  • wu
  • ji
  • geng
  • xin
  • ren
  • gui

The second component is named after the 12 animals:

  • Rat
  • Ox
  • Tiger
  • Rabbit
  • Dragon
  • Snake
  • Horse
  • Goat
  • Monkey
  • Rooster
  • Dog
  • Pig

By combining the two components sequentially, the 60 year cycle is obtained.
